A flagship destination where innovation, creativity, and community converge at the gateway to Virginia Beach’s Oceanfront Resort District.
From the team who brought you 1701—Virginia Beach’s first coworking space—Arrival is our next bold vision for creative community building.
We’re reimagining the former MOCA building at 2200 Parks Avenue as a dynamic, year-round hub for coworking, arts, innovation, wellness, and public gathering. Located at the gateway to the Oceanfront and on the northwest boundary of the ViBe Creative District, Arrival will be a space where entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and neighbors can connect, collaborate, and create something meaningful together.
Rooted in our legacy of inclusive placemaking and powered by a new nonprofit entity, Arrival is designed to evolve with the needs of our city—through rotating exhibits, flexible workspaces, public programs, performance spaces, and opportunities for civic engagement.
Bringing Arrival to life is a bold, community-driven vision, and we can’t do it alone. To transform this historic space into a dynamic hub for creativity, connection, and collaboration, we’re calling on supporters, neighbors, and partners to join us. Your support will help shape a place where Virginia Beach’s culture can thrive year-round.
This building has long stood as a beacon for creativity in Virginia Beach. Located at the threshold of the Oceanfront and the ViBe Creative District, it’s more than just a structure—it’s a place where culture and community intersect.
We see its next chapter as Arrival: a vibrant, inclusive destination for creativity, collaboration, and connection. Our team is reimagining the space not as a single-use facility, but as a multi-functional, community-powered hub that stays active and relevant year-round.

Arrival is a new creative community hub proposed for 2200 Parks Avenue in Virginia Beach. It will be a flagship destination for coworking, the arts, innovation, and wellness—a place where residents, entrepreneurs, artists, and visitors come together to connect, create, and contribute to a more vibrant city.
The idea grew out of 1701, Virginia Beach’s first coworking space, which was open from 2016-2023 in the ViBe District. For seven years, 1701 demonstrated how shared space can spark real community impact. When we heard about MOCA’s planned departure from their current building, the founders dreamed up Arrival as a way to expand this model and bring new energy to an iconic civic space.
It’s more than a building—it’s a platform. Arrival brings coworking, community programming, art exhibitions, food experiences, and wellness together in one dynamic space that’s active year-round. It’s designed to grow with the city and reflect the creative energy of its people.
For more than 10 years, we have stood firm in our belief that we need a collaborative innovation and creative hub at the Oceanfront. Arrival will foster new ideas and perspectives by bringing people together from all over Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads, and elsewhere. As we previously witnessed in 1701, the diverse skills and talents of the people drawn to Arrival will spark innovation as members pool resources to develop new ideas. As new businesses flourish at Arrival, they will create jobs, and some will eventually graduate out of the space into their own locations. Arrival will continuously spur economic growth year-round at the Oceanfront and serve as a central hub for innovation.
Arrival captures the feeling of coming into something new—whether it’s a place, an idea, or a community. As a name, it honors the building’s location at the gateway to the Oceanfront and celebrates the arrival of energy, creativity, and possibility in this next chapter.
Yes! While some services (like coworking or studio spaces) will be membership-based, many events, exhibits, and public spaces will be open to the community. We’re designing Arrival to be welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
There are lots of ways to help bring Arrival to life. Take our survey to share your ideas; join the mailing list for updates; become a partner or sponsor; or contact us to let us know how you’d like to plug in!
We haven’t secured any location yet. In 2025, the city of Virginia Beach released a Request for Ideas for the soon-to-be-former MOCA site at 2200 Parks Avenue. For nearly two years, we have been looking for the perfect home for the next iteration of our coworking community. Coincidentally, the RFI response is due nine years to the day of 1701’s first day in business! Our team will submit a statement of interest for Arrival to open in the building after MOCA moves to their new location.
Expect a mix of public events, exhibitions, food pop-ups, community classes, pitch nights, concerts, wellness programming, youth workshops, and member-led meetups—plus collaborative partnerships with local organizations and schools.
Yes! The Arrival will honor the building’s legacy by featuring rotating exhibitions, community art projects, immersive installations, and performances in the theater.

1701 was a vibrant, collaborative coworking space in the ViBe Creative District. We operated at the corner of Virginia Beach Blvd. & Baltic Ave. at the Oceanfront from 2016-2023. During those seven years, we served hundreds of startups, small businesses, creatives, freelancers, artists, and remote workers in Virginia Beach and our neighboring cities.

1701 closed on June 30, 2023 because our lease ended, and we were unsuccessful in securing a suitable property to relocate. Our building was too small, and we were unable to come to an agreement with our landlord to realize our vision for a collaborative hub for innovation and creativity. We spent three years actively looking for a new building, but we were ultimately unable to find one, so we shut down and waited for the right time to try again.
